     Amanda is a widowed mother of 45 years that believes in the importance of imparting character to her children by example.

    " I have been either teaching aerobics and/or a member of "Go Work Out" in Lansing for over 15 years. Just recently I decided to give a try at some bodybuilding competitions as a way to set goals and obtain the physique I was looking for. There are other reasons as well - a way to show my children what some hard work and dedication does. Never give up (as well as to myself)."

     Being a Lansing Firefighter for the past nine years also motivates her to physical fitness.

     "Over the last two years I have competed at the World Police and Fire Games in Quebec Canada (and hope to attend the 07 games in Australia) where I took second place. My next show didn't come about until April of 06 at the Western Michigan Bodybuilding show where I placed 1st in my weight class, open, and overall. I competed at Capitol City where I placed 1st in weight class, 2nd in the open. And then my most recent competition was mentioned above where I placed 1st again in my weight class, open division, and overall. Looking forward to a couple of more shows yet this year - in between some Firefighting Combat Challenges

     These two sports are very different physically - but both have given me such confidence and renewed energy that will hopefully keep me competing for a long time."
